Why you should have an office coffee/tea service where you work.

There is nothing that lifts the spirit and puts one in a pleasant and relaxed mood than the smell of freshly brewed coffee.  This delicious beverage is enormously beneficial in the office and work place not only because of its stimulating attributes, but the effect it has on the brain as well.  Needless to say, the chances are that workers will become energized and potentially more productive.  Most workers simply love their coffee because it gives them the necessary lift to make it through the day.  The effect of the coffee aroma on the average person often the unique smell and aroma of coffee takes one back to pleasant times with family or friends; this can be a welcome break from stressful work loads or never ending work tasks.  According to recent research done on the effect of coffee has on the brain, it has been discovered that it definitely improves short term memory and speeds up your reaction time as well.  In other words you can actually become more alert and productive by drinking coffee.

Coffee can increase productivity, and save money in the long run.  It can keep workers productive and alert, and can soothe the senses during a stressful day.  Some experts say coffee can reduce depression risks, as well as reducing the risk of prostate cancer in men.  Some studies also suggests moderate coffee drinking can help protect against Type 2 Diabetes.  Many workers also feel that a company who provides these types of services cares about them, and they tend to have a more positive view of the company overall.  Having coffee/tea and other types of snacks available in your work place can help keep your workers energized and focused throughout the day, giving them a much needed boost when their energy begins to flag later in the day.

A lot of time and effort is used in having an employee go out and purchase the coffee and supplies weekly for their colleagues.  There are just too many variables in maintaining a coffee machine at work.  One of the benefits of signing up with a office coffee and tea service is getting the latest coffee systems, the use of a new free machine, free maintenance, and only one monthly invoice to deal with.  Having a coffee and tea service is much better than dealing with all those issues on your own.

Information you should share with your coffee and tea service include volume of coffee consumption and types of coffee your workers like.  The final detail should be the amount employees will have to pay for a single cup of coffee or tea.

                                         Health Benefits of Coffee

Coffee is good for your mind.  Coffee keeps one alert and improved concentration.  This power-beverage’s ability to stave off mental fatigue and strengthen short term memory can even help improve ones performance at work! Taking a midday coffee break helps one prioritize and remain focused on the task at hand.

A study from the University of North Dakota school of Medicine and Health Services found that caffeine in coffee can block the disruptive effects of high cholesterol on the brain linked to dementia and alzheimer’s diseases. Coffee is full of antioxidants (four times as much as tea) making this brew America’s #1 source of antioxidants.  The nutrients protect and repair damaged cells in our bodies supporting our immune system and fighting a long list of diseases. Coffee is chemically related to Theophylline a breathing medication given to asthma patients by their physicians to dialate their bronchial tubes therefore promoting healthy breathing again.

Cupping – A Professional Coffee Tasting Ritual.

Most people would not consider coffee to have more depth of flavor characteristics than wine, but it is true. Similar to wine, in order to communicate the characteristics of coffee flavor, a common set of terminology generally agreed upon.

The activity of tasting coffee to rate or judge the flavor characteristics and quality of a coffee is called “Cupping” and a professional coffee taster that performs this coffee tasting ritual is called a “Cupper”.

With cupping, the coffee is ground into a small porcelain or glass cup, and hot water is poured on top of the coffee. The coffee steeps for a few minutes as the grinds rise to the top, forming a crust. The crust is broken with a spoon and the cupper evaluates the coffee’s aroma. After the coffee cools down a little, the cupper slurps the liquid and evaluates the coffees flavor.

The cupper is only interested in the taste evaluation, not actually consuming or swallowing the coffee, and spits out the coffee into a container. During a cupping session, the cupper will typically evaluate many samples of coffee.

History of coffee

The history of coffee goes at least as far back as the thirteenth century.  The story of Kaldi, the 9th century Ethiopian goat herder who discovered coffee while searching for his goats, didn't appear in writing until 1671 and is probably apocryphal. From Ethiopia, coffee was said to have spread to Egypt and Yemen.  The earliest credible evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears in the middle of the fifteenth century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen. By the 16th century, it had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia, Turkey and North Africa.  Coffee then spread to Balkans, Italy, and to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia and then to America.
No one knows exactly how or when coffee was discovered, though there are many legends about its origin.   SunRise Coffee and Tea.
